A unique location
Bordering the Bay of Arcachon on its west façade, the peninsula of Cap-Ferret consists of a long strip of sand a few kilometers wide and about twenty long on the edge of the Côte d’Argent on the other side. The unique landscapes of the Cap-Ferret resort are due to the presence of water and sand that shapes every day the appearance without human intervention on both sides and the pine forest, planted by man who joins the forest of the Landes de Gascogne.
You can enjoy on one side the landscapes of the Arcachon basin, and on the other the waves and the immensity of the Côte d’Argent. Starting from the town of Lège Cap Ferret the visitor meets several villages on the road leading to the southern end of the peninsula: Jane de Boy, Claouey, Le Four, Les Jacquets, Petit and Grand Piquey, Piraillan, Le Canon, L’Herbe, La Vigne and Cap Ferret.
The history of the Ferretcapian spirit
Cap-Ferret waited a long time before being colonized. Historically attached to the town of La Teste de Buch, the peninsula has remained away thus preserving its wild character. For a long time it was occupied only by agents of the state owner of the premises, fishermen, oyster farmers from 1860 and seasonal hunters.
The development of the resort began very slowly at the end of the nineteenth century and then with the sale of the 44-hectare district in 1908 and it has always been subject to constraints giving it its unique and preserved character. All these specificities allowed the birth of a Ferretcapian spirit characterized by a desire for discretion and preservation.
